Hi,
How do I reinstall snow leapard on my imac27.
I want to reset everything so the computer is as new with factory settings etc.
Having done that I will reinstall everything from a time machine backup.

Insert the computer's original disk or a retail Mac OS X 10.6 DVD, restart with the C key held down, open the Disk Utility, erase the drive, and install a new OS on it.

What you need to do has been explained a couple of times, you have to call Apple, order a replacement set of original media (10.6.3). You will need a credit card with approximately $30 in available credit and the serial number of your computer. Once you have the replacement media then do an erase and install as you were instructed earlier. THIS IS THE SOLUTION!!!
Niel I obviously I miss readyour last message. So is it posible to download Lion online then use my upgrade from the app store?
If you bought Snow Leopard 10.6 online, it is a retail DVD and won't work with that Mac model.
If you want to do a fresh installation of Lion 10.7 or Mountain Lion 10.8 from the web, you can, but won't have the iLife applications afterwards.

Thanks, when I lived a 3 minute walk from the apple store I would of done that without question...But where I am it may take a few weeks for them to get it out here
whats troubleing me is that I managed to set up my last macbook air as new for a new guy in the office...but cant remember what I did
