Removing photos from iPhone

I have a iphone 5 and I also have a ipad 2. My iphone is now out of memory and pictures appears to be taking up 10 gb of my storage. Im wondering how to remove these pictures. I do not want to delete them completely so I can never view, but is there a way to free up some space? I dont really know how icloud works. I do have that set up so if i delete photos from my phone will they be saved in my icloud? Also I have the photostream where all pictures are on both devices. I just dont know what to do here. How to remove to clear space without losing forever?

You extract them to your computer the same way you would from any other digital camera. Once you have them safely there, you can delete them.

I do not have another computer, so i cant upload to itunes. Does icloud save everything?

If i delete from photo album, is it still in photostream?

Photostream does not hold photos indefinitely, no. You really need to offload them to a computer if you want to save them permanently.

so deleting from phone or ipad will permantely?

Photos are saved in photo stream for 30 days. After that, they roll off. If you need to store them on-line somewhere more permanently, I suggest you look into dropbox or a similar service. The app will allow you to automatically upload them to dropbox. There is no time limit on anything stored there.

Thank you. I do have the dropbox app on my phone and I have been using it for documents. I will try to upload my photos there. Do i just drag them into dropbox? Also, can you please tell me what icloud does. This is on my phone as well and it says my memory is near full on that as well in both my iphone and ipad?

so icloud is only temp also? once i delete photos from album they no longer appear on all devices correct?

what is icloud for? it says i can purchasemore storage? but what is it storing and what is it for? it says my icloud is almost full and my phone memoriy is almost full
