iPhoto and Image Capture don't detect my camera.
I've done this a thousand times... and the camera turns on when I hook it up, which tells me the connection is good. MacBook Pro + Mac OS 10.7.5 + Canon Powershot G3

Then possibly the card in your camera needs reformatting with the camera, but this will erase the card, so try get the photos off some way - try use another computer, for instance.
Thanks Terence. That got me to take a closer look at the camera... turns out the batteries were low.
Back in February, either recharging the battery or reformatting the card seemed to solve this problem. Fast forward to May, and it's happening again -- no app will see the camera. I wonder what's causing it this time! The battery's charged. 😟
Best solution is to use a card reader with the camera's memory card. That also avoids any low battery issues.
