How do you delete bulk mail folder in Mail program?

In my Mail program on my MacBook Air there is a Bulk Mail Folder usually full of annoying junk mail. How do I eliminate this folder so I don't get Bulk mail anymore?

MacBook Air, OS X Mountain Lion (10.8.2)

Well everyone, my solution did not last. I signed back in and there was the bulk mail folder.

I did find a thread elsewhere in yahoo that said to change your account email in yahoo

POP setting to ignore the bulk mail and keep it from downloading, but mine was setup like that so it doesn't work.

I'll see what I can find out and report back here by sunday. Greg

I am trying to figure out if everyone is wanting to delete their "Bulk" mail that is in the "att.net" group? If so, here is what I did: I deleted the whole group. First, make sure you go into your ATT Yahoo mail using your browser and logging in to your mail online. Then delete all your inbox mail you don't need. Second, open your mail from your mail app on your mac. Third, open the mail preferences, then click on "Accounts". Fourth, click on the "att.net" or "Yahoo" account on the left side of the window. Just in case take a picture or write down your incoming and outgoing server info, you shouldn't need it, but you never know. Fifth, now that your ATT account is high lighted, click the - (minus) at the bottom to delete the account, then confirm. Sixth, now click the + to add the account back, put in your ATT or Yahoo email address and password and follow the screen questions. After that you might have to quit the Mail program and open it back up. Now you will notice the group of mail boxes with the "Bulk" mail box are gone. You will notice all the emails in your "Inbox" will show "Unread". I believe it IS yahoo adding this group of mailboxes.

My apologies for resuscitating such old thread; but this is where google took me when trying to rid my Mail.app of that bulk folder. None of the solutions posted in the thread worked for me. I hope the person willing to give out their tooth and other body parts is still all in one piece so he can pay me.

Here's how I did it:

1. right click on a folder under Yahoo! on the left side of the mail.app window.

2. Select the menu item that says "Edit Yahoo..."

3. Select tab 'Advanced'

4.Type "[Yahoo]" in IMAP path prefix

5. Done, close settings window check mailboxes under Yahoo! for successful change.

Charlie7:"eye teeth" please; whatever that is.

I may have found another easy solution. Within my Outlook for Mac 2011 I went to 'Accounts', selected the Yahoo Inbox in the left-hand column, then Advanced, then Folders, then down to Junk on the left 'store junk messages in folder' switched it from 'Bulk' to Trash (Server), then OK. Then back to my Outlook Window, Tools from top menu, then IMAP folders, made sure the yahoo account is selected in the left column, then unsubscribed from Bulk. (If I hadn't done the prior step of routing Junk msgs to trash folder the unsubscribe button would have remained greyed out and unusable.) So far, the spam still goes into the webmail yahoo spam folder, but I never see it on my computer, even if I open up the yahoo trash folder. Apparently junk now goes directly to trash folder. My hope is that it does this right at the yahoo server level and never even makes it to my computer with all those virus and trojan files. IMAP would seem to work that way, since those folders I see on my computer are supposedly just mirrors of the server folders. The ultimate test will be when I restart my computer and see if all this holds.

Further feedback: I have found that in the outlook accounts window on the left --when outlook is open--you must make sure when you Quit Outlook that the Yahoo account is closed, with only the account name visible, not the submenus of inbox, sent etc. If it is not closed the bulk folder will return again and start collecting all of yahoo's spam.

I have this problem, too, but everything I read is about how to delete the Bulk mail folder if you have POP settings. I have IMAP settings, which is what my server company uses (AT&T). I never had a Bulk mail folder before—it just popped up a few weeks ago without me doing anything and now I get stuff in my Junk mail folder AND in the Bulk mail folder, including things that should go into my inbox! Very, very frustrated!!!!
