Macbook pro retina 15 2013 newest version fan noise for few seconds

I've had two rMBP machine replaced, the third is doing the same thing. After talking with AppleCare long enough, they finally believed that I was reporting was something to look into. My second machine, an early 2013 2.4GHz rMBP is now in the hands of Apple engineers to are investigating the issue. I spoke with them earlier today, and expect them to call me back with more questions.

I'll keep this thread updated.

I forgot to add that the current belief is that the issue in NOT hardware related, but either software or firmware.

exact same problem for me. bloody ridiculous!

I should elaborate. Fan spikes regularly. No iTunes, no iCloud, no Adobe cloud. If Apple are playing dumb it's a sign that the opposite is in fact the case. I'm sure they know about it.

Looks like it might be time for a class action against Apple. If you work in billable hours as I do, compensation for loss of revenue will run into the thousands per week, if not considerably more!

(BTW the fan spiked twice while writing this!!)

To me the issue happens two-three times during a working day, to you guys?

The same in my rMBP (early 2013 15" 16GB RAM 512Gb), Marco. Almost three times a day the tempest comes.

I just wish that apple would actually say something other than this is normal. I want them to a least say they know they have a issue

It would happen one time a day. Most of the time, i'm using Safari.

ive had mine since july last yr .i use it all the time and i must admit i have never heard the fan or needed it. even when heavy use.

More precision on my side. It seems that everytime the fan speed up, it's when the Macbook Pro is writing lot of data on the SSD.

For example I runned the iTunes Update and the fan spike up for one minute.

However, I did some transfer from my external hard drive to my SSD and the fans did not spike up. 😕

had this problem twice today. the MBP was not running anything heavy. Got the high end 2.7ghz model. Issue fits the exact same description as mentioned many times earlier in this thread. Apple please respond to this we need to know if this is a hardware issue or a fixable software thing

I don't know how many times I have seen this on threads but Apple doesn't directly respond to problems on support threads. If you are having a problem then call Applecare, that is the only way for problems to bubble up.

Also I have recently purchased the Early 2013 2.7 Ghz rMBP and I have not seen this problem happen on my machine at all. The fans have kicked in high but only during times when I am doing big file transfer or other things that have been utilizing the CPU pretty well.

AppleCare is clueless. Contact Apples Executive Offices and ask for Executive Care. Equally useless, but the number of gripes may ultimately yield a quicker fix.

The fan issue is real! I returned my machines. Apple is one candy in the candy store which has become quite good - Samsung, Google, and more.

AppleCare is going to continue to be clueless until enough people report the problem. All major problems start where AppleCare is clueless until enough people report the problem.
