iPhoto quits unexpectedly while editing photos

So what happened? Can't find any more about your problem and I have the same one and have been following the actions suggested to no avail. Running mac osx 10.8.5 and iphoto 11 version 9.4.3.

Have backed up on time machine but after the problem arose.

Have created new user a/c with new pics and that works. But how do I get my pics out of the original library and if I do so will I be importing the damaged file (s)

How can I salvage my pics, about 14000?. Using imac 27 with stacks of storage left.

Problem also in macbookpro so prob is something to do with import of recent pic files onto both computers though only new thing would be 2 short videos(now deleted).

Anybody out there can help me? OK, I know I should have stayed with windows and left the mac to the professionals but the big screen got to me.

As a Test:

Hold down the option (or alt) key and launch iPhoto. From the resulting menu select 'Create Library'

Import a few pics into this new, blank library. Is the Problem repeated there?

Post back with the result.

Same problem but when I created a new user account it worked ok with new photos imported from my sd card.

How do I import pics from the iphoto library without importing the problem?

You don't. What you do is find what's causing the problem. In this case it's not the app, as if it was it would be present in both accounts.

It's something local to your main account.

User Huxly647 figured out this fix

1. go to the /Applications/iPhoto.app/Contents/Resources folder

2. delete the files ' googlemap.html ' and googlesearch.html

iPhoto will no longer crash while the locations feature is no longer a viable feature.

Have done that on the imac 27 and it works. Now going to do the same on our macbook pro.

I want to download picasa and use that instead of iphoto so I'll try and find out how that can be done before I bother you again!
