Light Screen Marks on Macbook Pro

Hi

I have had this Macbook Pro 13" since july 2012, its the 2012 model.

I have recently noticed light marks across the centre of the screen like a big blotch and it is very visable and has grown in size. Looks like its something to do with the pixels.

Is there anything i can do to rectify this as this is a £1250 laptop with a screen defect. I have looked after the macbook but this has worried me as the screen is getting worse.

I dont have the apple care product and have also put my own ssd to replace the original hardrive.

What are my limited options

If you purchased in July 2012 you are covered by 1 year warranty. Replacing the hard drive does not void the warranty. Take it from there.

The macbook was brought from my local currys store, do i need to ring apple direct or go back to currys.

Does the 1 year warranty cover screens

Call AppleCare. You have a 1 year warranty from Apple. Makes no difference where you bought it. Yes it covers manufacturer defects for screens. You'll need it looked at to determine exactly what the issue is and what is covered.

Here is a couple of images of the screen close up, i have inserted a white oval ring around the white screen marks that have appeared and are getting bigger.

As you can see its a long white line right across the centre of the screen. Very unusual but i wonder if this is a big probem with macbooks

I have the SAME marks that I just noticed when I was watching a movie a few nights ago on my Macbook Pro. Have you taken yours in yet? I bought mine in 2011 so I think my warranty has passed but if this is an issue they should replace it or fix it! Can you please let me know what you find out??

I have taken mine into store, it was my local krcs store which is apple. They seemed to state that it looks like accidental damage somehow which wound me up a bit as the mac has been looked after since I had it, it has been sent away to the repair guys who will carry out further testing on the screen to decide if its warranty covered, though knowing apple it probably won't be. I will update you when I get any more info. If I have to pay to get this repaired I will not be buying another mac in the future. It's my first one and I don't expect the screen the break after only 8 months of ownership

Right, I received a phone call off krcs derby today and they said that they are changing the screen for me and it IS covered by the standard 1 year warranty which is brilliant, they did state it was quite a common issue for these screen burn ins or white spots. So very happy with the result.

I have had my computer since May of 2011. Do you think they might fix it since it is a common problem? It literally is the exact same marks and placement as yours. Do you think I should take it into the Apple Store or is there a better alternative?

I am not sure that they would fix that for free as your limited warranty has expired, which would mean they would charge you to get it fixed, I may be wrong but it's worth giving apple a call
