my imac keeps crashing

hi, installed new ram last week, since then my imac has crashed several times..

ran memory tests several times and all test passed - even a 10x loop

this happened before when i bought ram from ebay, and apple shop said although am was fine, it crashed cos and i got blue screen of death as it was a cheap..

this time i bought expensive ones from crucial... although i dont get blue screen, my imac simple crashes

please help

Your log shows that the kernel panic is caused by Sophos. OS X doesn't need any antiviruses, so I suggest you to uninstall Sophos or update it to the most recent version. It looks like you are running an unsupported version.

Then, I can see that you have MacKeeper installed. Uninstall it as soon as possible, because that application can damage OS X deleting files that mustn't be deleted. See > http://applehelpwriter.com/2011/09/21/how-to-uninstall-mackeeper-malware/

After doing these steps, your Mac should be working as usual

ive tried easy find several times - for devguru seagaye etc etc and no luck

its now crashing once or twice a day now

If they are still listed in the panic reports they must be somewhere on your system. If you've been searching the phrase in EasyFind without success, try just the word devguru and then search and seagate and then search.

Devguru seems to be software for a mobile phone. See if you can find an unistaller on the Samsung website (uninstallers are often package with the install software, so you might need to try to re-install to get the option to uninstall).

Likewise for Seagate - see if you can find any uninstallers on their website.

Contact Seagate support for removal instructions. In future do not install anything unless you know how to uninstall it.

I presume you upgraded the RAM in the computer at some point. Was that recently? What RAM modules did you use?

Try running with just the original modules that came with the Mac to see if the panics cease.

Yes I did

The first time I got them from eBay - had the same crashes

Took the iMac to apple store they said don't buy from eBay

They suggest using crucial UK for an upgrade

So did that

Was fine for a month or so

Then repeated restarts

I have a feeling the original rams will be fine...

I've run a test on these current 8gbs and were fine

But I guess my imac seems to have an issue with it...?

It looks like it may the RAM that could be the problem. Why not take out the upgrade chips run with the stock RAM for a week or so to see if the crashes stop. If so, contact Crucial and get their chips swapped out for another brand. Apparently they are very good on after sales.

iMacs seem to be extremely picky as regards what RAM will play nice.
