No. Read the second response in this.
The cover has magnets in it as well and that cannot be good for the cover or the washing machine either.
Dishwasher and washing machine is definitely overkill. Use a nonabrasive cleaner and wipe it off.

Is the Smartcover the cheapo vinyl one or the more upscale leather one? If it's vinyl, use a mild household cleaner like 409 or Fantastik. If leather, use a good leather cleaner/condition for boots, purses, etc.
