iWeb publishing nightmare

Hi everyone,

I just updated to iWeb 1.1 via software update, and now I can't publish anything to my .Mac page. I updated, and then made a new page (within my we site) in iWeb. I then pasted a long text-document from Pages in it, and hit Publish. It "created" the page, then said it would upload it. Well in the last step of uploading, I got an error saying "An error occurred while publishing file “/Web/Sites/iWeb/Site/Rotary-2006 files/DSC01793framed.png”."
That file path is pointing to a page (a photo album) that was already published, and had been on the web for a while. I haven't deleted any of the pictures associated with it, so I don't know why it's having a problem. But none of the pictures are in the .png format, so I think the _framed.png portion of that file path may be pointing to one of iWeb's template files.

I even tried removing that photo page and re-publishing, but then it picks another picture out of another page that, again, should not be affected with this uploading a new text-only page.

Any one had the same problem?

Thanks!

Can we have a quick show of hands? I'm wanting to know if you all (like me) have iDisk sync turned on? I've noticed that when I started a publish from iWeb (which since 1.1 isn't publishing, with all the same errors you're seeing) my iDisk starts sync'ing.
So I'm thinking 'cause and affect'
Let's all post if you are sync'ing your iDisk.

I've just turned off iDisk sync, and re-applied the 1.1 iWeb update ... wish me luck!

Hi Everyone,

Here is what happens in my case.

I created new pages, then i clicked on publish (button) it created the pages and then start to upload in the background.

Then an error message appeared (like all your error messages) and I clicked on OK.

Then I went to my website to see what happenned, and no changes were made.

But after 30 minutes I got back to it and all the changes were made (comments, new pages etc...)

What happened is that even with the error, iWeb continues to upload the content in the background (but we cannot see it) and at the end iWeb do not change the color of the updated pages from red to blue. It stay red.

The good thing is that we can publish without any problem... (I used a widget - TrafficMeter, available on apple.com to control the internet traffic which enabled me to certify that iWeb continue to upload after the error).

The bad news for them is that apple's employees will have work today to sort it out.

Good Luck

This is the same way I'm seeing the problem. I get the graphic error, iWeb appears to stop uploading, but by watching internet traffic, it's clear that it continues updating the site for a while.

Eventually, everything is posted as expected, but iWeb does not reflect this (i.e. pages are still red instead of blue).

Annoying, but it seems to be working at least.

One problem I've not seen reported is that existing iWeb sites published with iWeb 1.1 have their URL changed. Therefore, any visitor who has bookmarked that site will get an error message when they try to revisit that address.

In these pages the URL after ...iWeb/ now has a different series of numbers and letters. I always quote the abbreviated form of this page (up to iWeb/) but I know that many people have simply bookmarked the resulting page with the full URL.

This is particularly irritating as this has happened to a "front page" I've created which links to my pre-existing Homepage webpages.

I can't work out why this, and two other sites of about ten that iWeb manages, have had their URL changed.

At least I have not had the problems that many in this thread have experienced. All my iWeb pages published successfully, albeit with a new URL for a few of them.

Hey guys - I've had a problem uploading with .mac right from the beginning. Ended up deleting the entire thing from my idisc and republishing a small amount of it (thinking maybe it was the size of the file that was bogging down). I've almost always gotten the same message -error on the "index" page. Incredibly frustrating and not at all related to volume of users as it has happened all the time since I got the **** thing. Anyone else had that problem?

This is not good. An application gives the impression of terminating an activity such as uploading files, yet continues to upload those files without any indication in the application itself.

With no other Internet applications running (IM or Browser) I started iWeb and attempted to Publish. As before I received the same error related to a picture on my site. I click ok and iWeb appears to have stopped uploading, all status indicators are gone, however something is still pumping out data at a rate of 40 KB/sec.

Is it just me or does that make one feel a little uncomfortable. Quiting iWeb results in out bound traffic coming to a halt.

Olivier L may be onto something here.. I am going to let it sit and see what happens. Maybe letting it run its course will solve the issue.

After writing this I noticed that iWeb stopped uploading, my online site however, unlike Olivier was still without comments and search functions as well as counters.
