AppleCare+ for Walmart iPhone

If I purchase an iPhone 5 from Walmart (Straight Talk), what are my options for getting AppleCare+?

From what I can tell, it has to be purchased from an Apple retail store. Unfortunately, the nearest Apple store is 350+ miles away from me. Is it possible to purchase it online or over the phone?

AppleCare + does have to be purchased within 30 days, and can be done by calling AppleCare support at 800-692-7753. They can run a diagnostic remotely, and then process your order for AC+.

Standard Applecare can be purchased any time within 1 year, but does not cover accidental damage. Extends your warranty and provides access to voice support.

Ok, just got off the phone with Apple. They said I CAN purchase AppleCare+ over the phone if it's not convenient for me to go in to the store (which it's not). She just said to call the AppleCare number (1-800-275-2273), they can run a remote diagnostic and sell me the AppleCare+. (This does have to be within 30 days of the purchase). She didn't seem to think this would be a problem at all. So...I haven't actually done it yet, so I can't verify that it ACTUALLY works...but it sounds good to me!

Sorry, but Ralph is either wrong or misunderstood what you are asking about. You do indeed have to purchase AppleCare+ within 30 days of the purchase of the iPhone, and you will have to take the iPhone to an Apple Store to have it examined. Otherwise you must buy the iPhone from a fully-authorized source that also sells AppleCare+ so you can buy the plan at on the same invoice as the iPhone.

EDIT: I cannot confirm that the above information about a remote diagnostic is correct, though it's possible. I'd suggest calling Apple to verify before you purchase the iPhone.

Regards.
