iOS 6.1.2 Battery Drain on iPhone 5!

Updated my iPhone 5 to iOS 6.1.2 a few hours ago, and I feel that my iPhone 5's battery life has gotten ALOT worse than when it was on iOS 6.1.1 (although battery life was pretty bad there too). Phone was 100% after a full battery charge, 95% after recieving a 3minute call (WiFi & cellular off). Played Subway Surfers for a few minutes, battery went down from 95% to 89%. Phone is now currently on 71% with ---- USAGE: 35 minutes STANDBY: 1hour

-NOTIFICATIONS / PUSH NOTIFICATIONS ARE ALL OFF EXCEPT FOR MESSAGING AND PHONE CALLS

-iCLOUD OFF

-BRIGHTNESS AT ITS LOWEST

-NO ACCOUNTS SYNCED ON MAIL

Also, phone is a bit warm. This hasn't happened with the previous iOS updates. I updated through iTunes by the way.

Just got of the phone with AppleCare Rep and he suggested to replace the battery. I tried to reason with him that it could be a software issue and I'm not so sure that the battery should die out this soon, 4-5 months after purchase but he insisted to get the battery replaced and buy a apple care plan, that covers the battery as well. In fact the plan is comparatively cheaper than buying the battery alone. I dont know. I think it should be a software issue not the hardware issue.....

I'm with you. I think it's software related also. Especially since I had no trouble until this update. I was getting at least two days, if not longer until I updated my phone. Now either it's a software issue, OR the new update destroyed my battery. In which case Apple should provide a new one free instead of trying to make money by making us buy a new batery and the Apple Care Plan.

I am on an iPhone 4S. Never ever had an issue with it, even in the previous installations of IOS (I removed exchange connections from my device early in the year so I never experienced the exchange battery drain issue). With 6.1.2 I can tell you that even with my phone on standby my battery time is significantly less now. This is the first time I've had battery issues and it is very noticeable to say the least. I'm not even through my work day yet (with little to no interaction on my device) and I'm at 49%. That's almost 10% per hour with the device inactive. This is ridiculous, please post an update and fix this issue as soon as possible or give the users an option to roll back to a previous install of IOS if you can't make it "just work" like apple products are (supposedly) supposed to do.

Thanks.

Same here, I had no trouble until this update. I was getting at least 24hrs, if not longer until I updated my phone. Now either it's a software issue, OR the new update destroyed my battery.

I found my phone stays hot in my purse, and the battery lost 80% after 6 hours standby, which has never happend before.

I'd rather keep using the previous version!

Ditto here, and I have no exchange server. After installing 6.1.2 my phone stays hot and is fully drained in 3-4 hours while on standby. I've had it several months and before the "upgrade" it would last at least a day with normal usage. I've done all the obvious things (turning off wifi, location services, mail, calendars, etc). I am a busy person and don't need this.

Hello, I'm in the UK and experiencing very similar problems. I charged up my 4S last night to 90%, went to bed at 11 and when I woke up at 8, my battery was dead. Now this kind of thing did not happen before I updated to iOS 6.1. (It's worth mentioning that battery life was very poor when I updated to 6.1 but it's just got even worse with 6.1.2). The only thing that saves my battery life and keeps it at an acceptable level is by putting phone on aeroplane mode which is a bit useless really. Especially as I'm then uncontactable! I think the phones are just constantly searching for an Internet connection even when on standby and that's what is draining the battery. I don't know how prevalent this problem is in the uk though. I hope it gets sorted for all of us!

ios 6.1.2 is using up my battery quickly on my iPhone 5, iPad Mini & iPad 3. I had absolutely no battery issues until I installed the iOS update. This is crazy. Even in airplane mode it dropped 11% while I slept. It used to only go down about 1% prior to the update. I've been using my iPhone now for 20 minutes & only using Safari & my battery has dropped from 79 down to 58%.
