iOS 6.1.2 Battery Drain on iPhone 5!

Updated my iPhone 5 to iOS 6.1.2 a few hours ago, and I feel that my iPhone 5's battery life has gotten ALOT worse than when it was on iOS 6.1.1 (although battery life was pretty bad there too). Phone was 100% after a full battery charge, 95% after recieving a 3minute call (WiFi & cellular off). Played Subway Surfers for a few minutes, battery went down from 95% to 89%. Phone is now currently on 71% with ---- USAGE: 35 minutes STANDBY: 1hour

-NOTIFICATIONS / PUSH NOTIFICATIONS ARE ALL OFF EXCEPT FOR MESSAGING AND PHONE CALLS

-iCLOUD OFF

-BRIGHTNESS AT ITS LOWEST

-NO ACCOUNTS SYNCED ON MAIL

Also, phone is a bit warm. This hasn't happened with the previous iOS updates. I updated through iTunes by the way.

I had the same issue on my iPhone 5. No trouble at all and rather good battery life until upgrading to 6.1.2

All of the sudden I'm dropping 10-15% battery in an hour without even using the phone. I could actually watch the battery percentage drop without doing anything, and good golly it would just plummet if I actually used the phone. Tries multiple fixes, from removing exchange to turning off push... Nothing worked. I finally restored my phone, and set it up as a new phone. After 2 hours I then restored the backup and my battery life is back to where it was per-iOS 6.1.2

I've spoken with a number of people who have had the same troubles and upon restoring and setting up like a new phone, their battery issues were resolved as well.

Rather disappointing that the update to fix battery drain causes way worse battery drain. But it does seem that restoring and setting up as new resolves this on the iPhone 5

I have an iPhone 4S with the same drain issues after the 6.1.2 update.

I have turned off iCloud sync except for safari links and set all my email to manual update.

This has corrected the drain without having to reset my phone.

I was 100% battery 12 hours ago and have had two 30 minute phone calls, plus played games and surfed the web.

My battery is at 65% now, so it is acting normally again.

I hope this helps the people of Gotham.

Hello,

I am currently an owner of an iPod Touch 4th generation, running IOS 6.1.2. I will be glad to help solve your problem with your iPod/iPad/or iPhone.

Battery Drainage Issues (How to solve them):

  1. Update your iPod/iPad/or iPhone to the latest IOS. If you already updated to the latest IOS, please proceed to step 2.
  2. Reset all Settings: Settings > General > Reset > Reset all Settings
  3. Wait for the iPod/iPad/or iPhone to restart
  4. Once the iPod/iPad/or iPhone has restarted, all the settings have been changed. You may change them back to your personal preference.
  5. Use your iPod/iPad/or iPhone until the battery dies (until the device turns itself off)
  6. Plug your iPod/iPad/or iPhone into charge. The trick here, is to leave it 1.5 hours or longer after it reaches 100% --> undisturbed (preferably overnight)
  7. After leaving it 1.5 hours or longer on the charger, you may unplug, and start using. Give it a few days for the battery to Calibrate.

Hope that helps!

If none of the above solutions work, could you please reply back as soon as possible, as I will try to find another solution to your problem.

Sincerely,

Pizza98704

Did you try those steps I suggested in my last post?:

P.S. Since I updated to IOS 6.1.2, it seems like my Ipod Touch 4th generation battery drain is draining slower.

Hope that helps!

I forgot to tell you something very interesting. After I updated to 6.1.2 I noticed that Iphone gets overheated!!!e.x:I didn't play any games, camera or something heavy .I used a photo editing app for 'bout 2min,uploaded pictures on FB and Instagram, deleted some apps(I checked them before deleted)...and after 5min. that I am writing this reply it is kinda warm and the battery fell from 16%-14%.

I've had the same issues... after updating to 6.1.2 the battery drains in no time at all. The phone also gets hot which did not happen before. I had no apps running, brightness turned down etc. however, my battery went from 100% to 0% in under 5 hours. I made one short call in that time. This has been extremely inconvenient, very dissapointed. 😠

An update to my earlier post: I went to the Genius Bar yesterday to complain... they diagmosed it as a software issue which was causing the battery drain, wiped my phone and restored it to its original settings and it's much much better today. Somewhat annoying because I have had to reset all of my preferences, restore all of my apps, re-download all of my music and re-load my work email... blahblah. But it seems to have fixed the problem. If you do this you need to make sure you have backed up your phone into iCloud. My photos and Contacts and a few general settings were saved. All in all well-worth any short term hassle.

The issue is still the push function of email which is what the update of 6.1.2 was suppose to correct. When you keep the push on you will see the process of it trying to find email constantly which is draining the battery. I have found that turning off push and just using fetch is helping with the battery drain but Apple needs to step up and correct this issue instead of us looking for work arounds!
