At the office, I use my MacBook Pro closed with an external screen and an iSight. Until recently, it worked rather well but now, I have a sound problem. Specifically, in the iChat settings, the Sound item does not show my iSight microphone as it used to. In the video settings, I can choose between the MacBook iSight or the external iSight but this is not the case for the sound item as it used to be.
I cannot date the change with certainty as I don't use it everyday but the most likely change in my configuration is the latest round of updates and security patches over the weekend.
I'm not sure we understand each other: what you described as "Microphone Enabled" is in fact "Built-in microphone" in the English interface. It refers to the built in mike of many macs which do not have an built-in iSight. What I wanted to show was not which option I had chosen but what was available and the difference between the system audio options and the iChat audio option. In the system options, you get an iSight (Firewire) audio in option which is the one I lost in iChat
Does the LogicTec device need drivers, can they be
uninstalled to test?
The Logitech is a Bluetooth handsfree with no installation at all. It is supported natively by the OS.
Is the iSight attached to the screen or the MacBook?
The iSight is attached to the Firewire port of the MacBook Pro
I did some more testing and went nowhere. I created a new user and did noting but configure iChat, the iSight microphone is still not available as an audio input choice in iChat.
