Part of my iPad screen is unresponsive.

Hi,

I have recently started having problems with my iPad2 touchscreen. Using an app like Paper and my finger to draw both vertical and horizontal stripes, I have discovered that a thin strip of about 1cm along the middle of the screen is unresponsive.

Holding the iPad in the portrait orientation, it runs down from top to bottom just to the left hand side of centre.

Can anyone help me out on this? The iPad has just come out of warranty (typical!) - does anyone know of a soft solution?

Many thanks in advance.

Have you tried rebooting, resetting all settings or restoring the iPad? It could very well be a problem with the screen that no software solution can solve, but give those a try.

Reboot the iPad by holding down on the sleep and home buttons at the same time for about 10-15 seconds until the Apple Logo appears - ignore the red slider if it appears on the screen - let go of the buttons. Let the iPad start up.

You can try resetting all settings. Settings>General>Reset>Reset All Settings. You will have to enter all of your device settings again.... All of the settings in the settings app will have to be re-entered.
