Podcast episodes not appearing in iTunes Store.

Hello,

I see this has been a bit of a problem, but figured I'd add to the discussion anyway. My podcast has eight episodes and downloads immediately with no problem for subscribers. However, when searched for in the iTunes Store, only the first two episodes show up. It's been a few weeks, so I figured they should start appearing.

Thank you for any help.

I'm afraid I can't give you an encouraging answer here. The feed appears to be fine, and as you say can be subscribed to manually in iTunes (and from the button on the Store page). The Store simply hasn't updated since after episode 2 and I can see no reason whatever for this.

This sort of thing isn't entirely unknown - the Store has been known to get stuck in individual cases sometimes, and usually in the end it sorts itself out, though it's completely frustrating.

I have seen cases where inexplicably a podcaster's server doesn't react well to requests from the Store, though it's OK in the iTunes application, though usually this happens from the start rather than part way through the podcast's history. If the people running your server are focussed and have proper logs they might be able to find a request for your feed from the Store and see whether an error has cropped up, but it's a pretty long shot.

You could try emailing iTunes Support at podcasts 'at' apple.com, but don't be surprised if you get back a form answer telling you how to add episodes (which you already know perfectly well).

in iTunes I assume? I should just select the top line - the one for the actual podcast itself, not an episode - and hit delete. That will get rid of the lot; or you can just select episodes and delete if you want to retain some.

Either way, when you do this you will be asked whether you want to keep the items on the hard disk or move them to the Trash. Make sure to choose the latter or they will disappear from the list but still be taking up space on your hard disk.

Then you can subscribe again - a lot of episodes will show, but only the lates will download and you can download any further ones you want.

It's likely to take a great deal longer than three days between submitting your feed and seeing it in the Store. There's no fixed time, but two weeks is quite likely. You should get an email when it's accepted giving you thue URL of the Store page. It will take a bit longer before it appears in Search results, and if you have a podcast image it may take some days to appear.

When you have a question it's better to start a new thread rather than tack onto an existing one - we've now got about four different sets of questions here.

If anyone else who comes here has a query, please start your own thread - things can get awfully confusing otherwise.
