For some reason, I can't text my friend in Australia, we have each others' numbers correct, and she can text me, but when I text her, the messages go through but she doesn't receive them. I have an iPhone 4 and she has a Samsung Galaxy S2, could it have anything to do with our phones?

Does your plan allow for the sending of international SMS messages?
This might sound silly but do you have your friends number in contacts entered as +61 4xxx xxx xxx?
Drop the leading zero on the mobile number, no area code 61 is country code for au and + is international dialling prefix. In settings/phone make sure dial assist is on
The iPhone user needs to change their messaging to SMS. I just spend countless hours reading posts and calling AT&T.
Settings-messaging-SMS turned to on position.
Also UNREGISTER all Apple devices under your Apple ID that use iMessage.
It's a Mac glitch due to their proprietary policies. Yet one more reason, after 25 years of being a Mac user, I switched to Chrome.

This is completely wrong. It's perfectly possible to text a non-iPhone user with iMessage turned on. I understand you've got your knickers in a twist over something but this is not the place to air grievences.

What ARE you talking about? This post is about the iPhone - nothing at all to do with the Mac.
Switching to Chrome has absolutely no connection to sending text messages to Australian numbers from an iPhone.
They apparently have some sort issue with Apple. They have been posting this same thing over and over again. Basically trolling. I probably shouldn't have responded but, well, haven't had enough coffee yet. 😉
She should be able to receive your SMS messages but not iMessages because she does not have an iphone

Is your plan international, if not it is 50 cents a text
In case you didn't notice, this thread is almost 4 years old now. I am guessing that this has been resolved.
