I need to slow the speed of my audio books on both my iMac and iPad. Where will I find the speed icon so I can adjust it? If I adjust it on my iMac will the speed sync to the iPad or do I have to do each one separately?

On my iPod touch, when the audiobook is playing I tap the screen to display the speed button. The default is 1X, but you can change to 2X or 1/2X with a few taps.
Assume it's the same way on the iPad.
I don't think if there's a similar setting in iTunes, but for 3 bucks, this might do the trick:
