I lost my iPhone and had some pictures from it synced to photostream before it was lost. However, when I got my new phone, I accidently deleted one of them from photostream. Is there a way to recover the photo? Since it was technically on iCloud/photo stream at one point (just deleted it by accident today), shouldn't there be a way to get it back?
You can't recover deleted photo stream photos. Your only option would be to restore another iOS device from the backup of your lost phone. The backup would contain camera roll photos.
If you want to restore your iCloud backup you have to start by erasing your device. If you have any newer data such as photos that you want to keep you'll need to save that first. Then go to Settings>General>Reset, tap Erase All Content and Settings, go through the setup screens on your device and when given the option, choose Restore from iCloud Backup and follow the prompts. Be sure your device is connected to wifi and your charger as it is restoring the backup.
i lost my iphone, i guess i wouldnt be able to restore without the device then?
Right. You can only restore your iCloud backup to another device running the same or higher version of iOS as the one you backed up.
It happened to me and all of my photos were back. But then I just realize that they are gone now!
I took those photos on 9 Dec and I restored them around 17 Dec. The last day I saw them was on 26 Dec, even I still could edit some photos from my iOS. I checked them today but they are gone. It's been 30 days yet though.
Any idea?
Where does iCloud keep the last 30 days or 1000 most recent photos? I installed iCloud on my PC. Logged into my account and there are no photos? This was done when I upgraded on my iPhone 4S from iOS 7.X to iOS 8.2. There were no warnings.
Restoring from iCloud backup assumes you have a viable copy of iCloud backup to begin with. Like most people, you probably have the 5GB free version and not nearly enough for heavy Music and Photo users.
