I have iPod touch and the wifi wont work. I have it on a static ip, on an auto proxy, and it shows a tick next to the network name and it worked yesterday. So why wont it work now?
Heres what I've tried:
-Resetting router and iPod
-Resetting network settings
-Updating iPod
-Checking the ip adress.

Why not just use DHCP and let the router assign the address?
Maybe the address you are using is used by another device.

The DHCP doesnt work, it just shows a spinning loading circle thing and never loads. I got the IP from my laptop (which internet works perfectly) by typing 'ipconfig' into the command prompt. What am I meant to do? I only got this iPod yesterday.
Thaty is likely the problem. The IP address has to be unique for each device. Two devices can't have the same IP address.
If you want to use a static IP address, go into the router's setting and find an IP address that is not in the range of IP address that the router gives out.

You home route has about 254 iP address that can be used. Most router's default setup all use of a range of address that the router can assign. Sometimes it is 192.168.XXX.100 to say 192.168.XXX.199. Also, the router has it own address which is typically 192.168.XX.1. You do not want to use a static address that is used by the router or which the router can assign to devices (it has to be outside the range).
Have you tried restoring your iPod, first from backup and then to factory settings/new iPod to try to really resolve the problem?
Does the iPod connect OK to other networks?
How old is your router?
I've tried all these things! The router is pretty old.
It works at my mother's house but not at this house. I dont know how to put this new ip in as the DHCP wont work. it shows 3 bars of signal at the top but safari and none of my wifi apps will work.
I would get a new router.

Typically the next to last entry is either 0 or 1. The last entry is the the actual address, It can be 0 to 255
