So for my first project in numbers, I wanted to create a spreadsheet of all my contacts. I read the manual, watched a video tutorial, and tried just about everything I could think of, but I am un successful with dragging and dropping the contacts into a blank template. Can anyone help?

Update - when I log out of my admin account and into my spouse's account, I am successful - is there some setting that I have to change on my account?
Yes, there's a system preference: Personal > Security and Privacy > Privacy, Allow Numbers and Pages to have access to your Contacts.

Choose Contacts on the left and Numbers on the right.

The problem is that numbers is not listed on the left or right. Any idea why?

When I choose contacts, numbers is not in the list. Only pages and evernote.
Is it possible that you moved Numbers from where it was originally installed?

I do have a new macbook pro and recently transferred my files from my old macbook. Could this have caused the problem? Thanks

Since Pages is on the list and Numbers isn't, take a look in the Applications folder and see if they are in the same (iWork) folder.
