New SMC Firmware update broke CoreDuo Temp and speedit.kext

After installing the SMC firmware update, I can no longer launch CoreDuo Temp or speedit.kext.... hmmm..

Anybody else experiencing this?

BTW, the SMC firmware seems to have cooled down my computer... but I can't be sure, since I can't launch any temperature monitoring software... 🙂
Whine is still there, and the PhotoBooth fix still works...

Hi all,

I have had the heat issue as well, even though I have had my MacBook Pro sitting on one of those things that elevate the back so there is air flow underneath it.

I called Apple Care and they were really nice, walked me through a number of tests and told me the computer was fine. Like I have seen on a few other posts, they told me that it was never meant to sit on your lap (I have never used it on my lap, my concern about the heat was/is that there will be damage to the computer). Anyway, at least it is on the record that I called in about the heat.

All that being said, I want to update the firmware like I see some of you did but when I try it tells me that it is not for my computer.... I don't remember the exact message but it wasn't "your computer is already up to date". Maybe I was not using the correct URL.

Anyone else have this problem?

Thanks

Kallie
