Lost all iPod data after 6.1.2 update!

My friend lost all of his data after updating to 6.1.2. Before the update, iTunes said something along the lines of "Data must be deleted to perform the update but when it is done the data will be restored".

After the update, the only thing that was restored was the music. No apps or app data (which was the most important thing).

Any way to get this back?

Sounds like the apps were not in the iTunes library. The first step of the update is iTuned making a backup. However, the backup does not included synced media like apps and music. If the apps are not in the iTunes library there is no place for the app date to g when the iPod is restored from the backup.

Try redownloading the apps by:

Downloading past purchases from the App Store, iBookstore, and iTunes Store

The restoring from backup. See:

iOS: How to back up

You can also restore from iCloud backup. see the above. When yo restore from iCloud backup the apps are automatically downloaded.

- Then it sounds like you are out of luck. It is likely that either the backup did not initially contain the data or that the backup got overwritten when you connected the iPod to your computer. and you had iTunes set up to automatically sync when an iPod is connected

- Go to iTunes>Preferences>Devices and see if there is a backup dated/time stamped with when you did the update.
