system preferences problem

I have a problem here...everytime i try to change my iMac wallpaper using system preferences it freezes when showing : loading pictures. I have reinstalled my system but it still does that. Does anyone know what should I do with it? (i am running mountain lion).

Thanks

iMac, OS X Mountain Lion (10.8.2)

That problem is related to an issue with the Desktop settings file, so you just have to delete it.

To do it, open Finder, select Go menu > Go to Folder, and type ~/Library/Preferences. In this folder, delete "com.apple.desktop.plist" and "com.apple.systempreferences.plist", and restart. OS X will create a new Desktop file, so after restarting, try changing the wallpaper in System Preferences
