Sceptre X37SV-Naga 37" LCD TV

I am considering this monitor/TV

Sceptre X37SV-Naga 37" LCD TV $1,659.00
(16:9, 1920x1080, 1000:1, HDTV - SKU: X37SVNAGA)

"Enhanced HDCP HDMI and DVI port."

The manufacturer says "The tv's port is DVI-D." Is there an adaptor for this? Will this monitor work with my Mac Mini using the DVI port?

Mac Mini 2005 or Core Duo, Mac OS X (10.4.6)

Yes, exactly the same TV. I have an early generation one but I don't think it has changed all that much. I bought mine in October last year.

What has changed far more significantly is the mini. We don't really have the same computer at all. But I am confident it will work just fine. I have mine hooked up to my G4 mini over DVI, not VGA. But I tried both DVI and VGA and they both work. The result is quite spectacular. 1920 x 1080 native, no scaling, no overscan, perfect image. You will be happy.

I didn't realize you were using a G4 mini. I thought you had an Intel mini. Anyway, I did have to use SwitchRes X on my G4 mini to lower the dot clock when running 1920 x 1080 in order to get a completely stable picture. If you want to go this route on your G4 mini, let me know, and once you have SRX installed I can give you the values I plugged into it to make the Sceptre work.

Here is the timing I entered into SwitchRes X in order to get the mini's pixel clock to 135 MHz, which is a critical frequency for the G4 Mac mini.

Pixel clock: 135 MHz
Horizontal Active: 1920 pixels
Horizontal Front porch: 16 pixels
Horizontal Sync width: 16 pixels
Horizontal Back porch: 40 pixels

Vertical Active: 1080 lines
Vertical Front porch: 1 line
Vertical Sync width: 3 lines
Vertical Back porch: 46 lines

H and V Positive sync. boxes are checked
Interlace box is unchecked
Use simplified settings: unchecked
