I've been watching the debates about iTunes11 and thought I'd start a slightly more positive thread;

(that said, I have already downgraded back to 10.7 and will stay with that until iTunes 12 starts to catch up with iTunes 10.7)

So what should iTunes12 have?

obviously, there'll be a lot of people with CoverFlow at the top of their Christmas list.

bring back the album art preview, and the ability to click it and have it open full size.

being able to open a playlist in a separate window is also high on the list.

fix the search facility so it's not backwards.

bring back DJ view

find duplicates (i think they've put that back already, but I'm still in 10.7)

make the interface look more like a new Apple product, and less like a 1985 Apple product (or 2008 windows product)

get rid of Composer's View?  ;-)

what else?

none of these 'up'grades fixes a fundamental problem that has been bugging me for ages. does no-one else have this problem?

but i need to explain;

i go out with my iPhone. i listen to some songs that i like and some songs that i don't like (which i promptly delete), and i hear a song that i like somewhere else , so i buy it on iTunes.

nothing unusual there then.

later, i'm on my iMac and listening to some music. again, i hear something i like and something i don't like.

i delete the one i don't like.

i plug my iPhone into my iMac. as soon as its connected, i get a message saying "iTunes has found purchased songs on your iPhone that are not on this Mac, do i want to transfer these items from this iPhone back to your iTunes Library?"

which songs???

i don't know whether it means songs I've purchased on the phone, which should now be imported onto the mac, or whether its referring to the phone copy of songs i've recently deleted from the Mac!

please can it show me a list???!!!

Id like to see a delete duplicates button, instead of just viewing them.

I'd like it to work. Regarding this latest version, I know it's ambicious to ask. But that's what I want in iTunes 12. I want it to work. Basically.

Works fine on all my systems, Mac and Windows. Perhaps if you start a new topic detailing the problems you're having, someone can help you get it working too.

    Regards.

These are technical support forums, so what you are going to see are those who are having problems. The many thousands or even millions of people who are not having problems have little reason to post here.

Again, if you are having problems, post details and someone can perhaps help you sort things out. Just saying "it's not very good" is unproductive, and being just an opinion invites contrary opinions such as mine: iOS 7 is quite good indeed.

    Regards.

I think the idea of a thread for a wish list for the next version of iTunes is valid.  One thing I would like to see is the ability to opt out of the "Next Up" feature.    It's fine, I'm sure, for those that use it - but I would like the ability to opt out of it.   I personally find the feature annoying.

And this is something across the board.    If Mac puts in new features - SUPER - but there should be a way to opt out of any or all of them if one wants.

Sorry, mistyped. I meant to say iTunes 11, not iOS 7. Seeing so many posts on iOS 7 I just had it on the brain when typing.

As to iTunes 11, again, you are most likely to see comments, on any product or subject, from people who either hate something or love it - people who are satisfied but who otherwise don't hold really strong opinions rarely post in web sites -  so going by forums is going to give a skewed viewpoint. But it's in any case irrelevant; it's all what works for you, not what might work for me or anyone else.  iTunes 11 can undoubtedly be improved in many ways, but posting suggestions here do little good since they're unlikely to be seen by anyone at Apple in any position to consider them. Suggestions should be submitted to Apple via their feedback pages.

    Regards.

    1. Take a copy of iTunes 10.7

    2. Make a new icon.

    3. Rename it to iTunes 12

    4. Have a big release party!

There is not requirement to use it so "opt out" by not using it

I really love it when people put replys on these forums without providing answers and seemingly to show how much smarter they are than the person with the question.   So, Mr. Wizard - I do NOT use the "Next Up" feature - but when I have played a song and then I want to record it (or the album) and I want to see the progress of the ripping or the progress of the transferring the song from the mac to my iphone, I have to MANUALLY clear the "Next Up" information that supersedes the information I want to see.  I would like the option to disable the "Next Up" feature completely so I do not have to do this all the time.

And I did send this query to Apple Feedback and have not heard from them.

    No you don't.

Why do you think you need to do this?

Click the up/down arrow (not the Up Next bars) at the far right of the LCD display at top of iTunes to switch between current iTunes processes (syncing, burning, now playing, downloading).

Is there some reason you expect to hear back from them?

It clearly states, "please note that we cannot respond to the comments you submit."
