aNeed help getting scsi drive icon back on desktop. HD can not be found, can't instll, can't boot except with tools

when starting computer from tools disk the 'extentions off' stays but the computer continues loading to the desktop

still can't install system because of "bad blocks" found
It cannot be ruled out that the hard disk surface is damaged. During formatting, one can sometimes notice how the process slows down; this can be a sign of a troubled area on the disk. The formatter may be able to map out a certain number of bad areas, but it can also lead to a failed initialisation.
If possible, try to reformat the hard disk.

If this is a SCSI drive, which I suspect, do a low level format. This should lock out bad blocks. The only problem is that if there are bad blocks, your drive could be failing, in which case you need a replacement drive.
