Fan and Battery:

On my 15" MacBook, which is less than 6 months old.

At the same time:

a) The internal fan started running constantly.

b) The internal battery is no longer detected, though it still appears to work, when the A/C is removed,

but any app that detects the battery can't find it.

Up until Yesterday, this was not a problem.

Rebooting does not help.

I am not sure. Any way to diagnose this or fix this?

Thanks in advance

Heat is a killer -- be sure to have a laptop cooler as well. I've been using laptops for years, and they get hot and that causes all sorts of problems.

The other suggestion about system management controller reset are good, but keeping the laptop from overheating is a sure way to extend it's life, the life of the battery, and avoiding heat related degration of all sorts of components.
