For pas 3 days I have been trying to find a solution how to bring a PPT that has videos (in formats AVI, WMV, SWF or Animated GIFs) into iPad and have the videos and transitions play. I have looked at various options & communicated with tech support of a few -

  • Quickoffice Pro HD - does not support animations & videos
  • Documents To Go Premium - Animations not currently supported
  • Office2 Plus - Does not support video playback
  • SlideShark - have not communicated with their tech support yet; seen their video; does not seem to "convert" the PPT
  • BrainShark - you can upload PPT to their server, add voice & videos separately, publish & view online
  • See this blog online for how one person got the videos to work in iPad but this is also lengthy process, especally if you have 40-50 or more PPTs to convert/bring into iPad

I do not think "Pages" app by Apple does that. The one they recommend is Keynote. But to use Keynote, if you have an existing PPT with videos, you have to do the following -

  • convert your vids into format compatible with iOS (mp4, m4v, mov)
  • bring in your PPT into Keynote
  • delete the existing vids
  • insert the mp4/m4v/mov

If you have a 100 PPTs to convert, all the best. Looking for an app that does this work for me rather than having to do the above process manually. Moreover, I have read online that Keynote does not convert the transitions well or at all.

Converting the PPT into video is not an option for me because it has to be used for making presentations, where speaker needs to stop, take questions, go bac kto some slides, etc.

Can anyone help with suggesting an app that takes a PPT with videos in different formats (or even one preferred format) and play it in iPad with transitions and videos playing as they did in PPT?
