I am trying to download new apps for my iPhone 4. When I do, I get an error message telling me to Update to iOS 5.
To perform the update, I synced my iPhone with iTunes on my MacBook Pro which uses Mac OS X, Version 10.6.6, and iTunes 10.1.1 (4)
I get an error message every time I open iTunes, or when I try to update my iTunes to the latest version.
“iTunes can't verify the identity of the server “ax.itunes.apple.com”.
I've tried various solutions I found here in this thread. In iTunes > Preferences >
Deselect Check for updates automatically, also reset warnings and reset cache.
Then the message did not come up unless I “Check for Updates”. Then I click “Continue” and I get another error "The iTunes update server could not be contacted. Please check your Internet connection, or try again later."
I then went to the Apple.com website and tried to download the latest version of iTunes (11.0.5) for Mac OS X, but in the fine print it says my system requirements need to be 10.6.8 or later.
DOES THIS MEAN I HAVE TO BUY A NEW COMPUTER – JUST TO USE THE LATEST VERSION OF iTUNES – WHICH WILL THEN ALLOW ME TO UPDATE THE OS ON MY IPHONE 4, SO I CAN CONTINUE TO DOWNLOAD APPS FOR MY IPHONE 4?????
