I get the following message upon starting iTunes:
iTunes can’t verify the identity of the server “ax.itunes.apple.com”.
The certificate for this server is invalid. You might be connecting to a server that is pretending to be “ax.itunes.apple.com”, which could put your confidential information at risk. Would you like to connect to the server anyway?
Any ideas?

I have the same problem and I tried everything you all told but it doesn't work
had the same problem, unchecked, check for new software automatically under preferences, worked!!
Was able to update, not in itunes but in mac, updated everything from mac and message no longer comes up.
I'm on 11.0.3.42 - my error message is "ITunes can't verify the identity of the server upp.itunes.apple.com"
Different version (latest); different servername. Same error.

Go to iTunes -> Advanced ->UNCHECK "Check for new software updates automatically" and this dialog will never occur 🙂
Mharper, you should be able to update your OS to 10.6.8 without any issues, if you're running 10.6.6. Just "Check for updates" under the Apple Logo. 🙂

I have just had this and noticed my date and time were incorrect. Set them to the correct date and time and all now working correctly.
