How can i restore my mid 2011 iMac to factory settings, i didnt get an install cd and it was purchased new?

hi everyone,


i had a mid 2011 imac, i have owned it for just over a year now and i am wondering 2 things.


1. how can i restore my computer as it is filled with junk now and

2. why didnt i recieve a boot cd when i bought it?


i just recently purcahsed a macbook pro and same thing, i didnt recieve a boot cd? is this wrong?

You don't need a DVD with a new Mac because you can download the software via the Internet, and you have an hidden partition on your hard drive, that you can start your computer from by holding down the command + R keys, once the computer restarts you need to click on disk utility and erase your hard drive, then exit disk utility and then click on reinstall Mac OS X, Note: Make sure you have a backup of the files that you would like to keep.
