Prevent automatic zoom on trailers?

Is there a way to stop iMovie from automatically zooming on the movie clips you import into a trailer?

I've got some footage of my daughter dancing, but with the trailer template is automatically zooms (wide, close up etc) as per the storyboard, which chops her head off from the clips.

It would be really hard to film new clips to import not knowing exactly how iMovie was going to zoom in on them.

Am I missing something? I just want it to play the movie clips as I've filmed them.
