After months of being fine with several email accounts , automatically downloading one of my yahoo accounts has frozen and won't downlaod any mail or send from it. No message error. Nothing. The other accounts appear to be fine. I have restarted. Any ideas?

Try a reset:
Hold the Sleep and Home button down until you see the Apple logo.
Thanks but I have tried this twice , no joy . Any other ideas?
Delete account and create account again.
