I seem to have lost my green, yellow and red minimize buttons in my mail messages. I am not in full screen mode so the other postings have not helped me fix this problem. Any suggestions?
I have had this problem for a few days now and have tried restarting the computer and searching help but can't figure it out.
MacBook Pro, OS X Mountain Lion (10.8.2)
Mail is in full-screen mode, but the main problem you have is that the reply window is active. Just press the Cancel button (or the Send button, if you have to send a mail), and then, just move the cursor to the top right of the display and press the blue rectangle to show Mail in a window
If you want, can you take a screenshot of that window? Hold Command, Shift and 3 keys to take a screenshot of the whole display, and then, upload that photo here pressing the photo icon above the reply box.
Apart from that, when you are going to restart your MacBook, untick "Reopen windows when logging back in". If you don't do this, it's possible that you will go back to the same window you got before
Thank you so much. I didn't think it was in full screen mode because to my 'eyes' it was not taking up the 'full screen'! ;-)
Now, I just have to put it back into some workable shape - so that the mail, not just the message, takes up more of the screen. Thank you again.

In that case, you should see the menu bar at the top of the display. Do you see it? If you see it, just restart your computer and see if it's fixed
I have tried restarting the computer but that does not help. I've had this problem for a few days now.
