WHY is my iPhone 5 always on 3g? I WANT 4g!!!

I bought an iPhone 5 when I already had a 4 so that I would have 4g..... I was told by verizon this is a known issue. How long has it been a known issue(I've had this problem well over a week)? Should I move on from iphone 5 or is it being fixed? I already returned 1 phone thinking it was just that one particular phone but it wasn't. I want to have an iPhone but if this isn't going to change I am swapping for something else that actually has 4g. Does anyone know if there is a fix coming in the very near future??

p.s. I spent hours on the phone trouble shooting every possible fix with both phones and end result = it's a known issue.

is everyone having this problem?

No, I know lots of Verizon users who access LTE on their iPhone 5s everyday. Don't you think if there was an issue with the iPhone 5 that it could not use LTE on Verizon, and it was happening to absolutely every customer, there might be an article or two about it somewhere?

Early on there were issues with the Verizon iPhone 5 that required replacement the nanoSIM in order to connect properly to LTE. Have you tried that? Are you sure you have LTE coverage in your area?

they confirmed i do have 4g coverage in my area and i'm sure i should, i live in new jersey immediately across the river from NYC. (highly populated)

the tech asked me to remove my sim card and put it back in. which didn't work. and when i swapped phones they were ****** because it was "a known issue" that supposedly is going to be fixed.

Go back to Verizon with the phone you have now but ask them to replace the nanoSIM. It is not a "known issue". But also check their coverage map to be sure, LTE coverage is block by block, not by city or populated area, so you might drive around a bit and see if the display changes.

It will not show 4G or LTE while you are on a voice call.
