Do i NEED to book a genius appointment to get a battery replacement for my macbook air 2010?

Hi, my macbook air is nearing 1000 cycles of battery recharging, I was wondering if the

battery can be replaced by the geniuses at my local store? is this possible? if not, how

do i go about changing my battery???
