Why does facetime fail to connect 90% of the time

What is facetime so unreliable in connecting?

Has anyone figured out why the problem is?

No, it ISNT anything to do with internet connections or routers. I have the same problems. First, I have a 100Mbps connection (yes, really), and FT fails to connect about 9 times out of 10 (I'm surprised when it DOES connect!). On EXACTLY the same system Skype connects 95% of the time, as does Goto NetMeeting etc etc.

So, let's stop blaming bad internet connections and start asking Apple why the basic FT connection is so incredibly unreliable.

Here is a typical FT experience...

1. Dial someone (and DONT get me started on the abysmal UI interface FT has...)

2. FT shows "calling" .. takes about 5 seconds.

3. FT shows "connecting..." and sits for 30 seconds doing nothing.

4. FT connection fails.

My FT experiences have been so poor that I question if anyone at Apple really gives a **** if FT actually works. Reminds me of Mircosoft at their wirst to be honest. I'm more than happy to work with Apple to trouble-shoot FT, but I doubt anyone there gives a dam(n).

Of course, a lot of people DO have broken or poor internet connections, but "it's your internet connection" has become an absurd excuse for FT not working, even when it's very clear that FT is failing FAR more frequently than should be the case.

It's probably your router/wifi internet connection.

Tim, I agree completely. Although my problem is only with FT audio.

Most of the time FT video connects (not always, but 95% of the time). I've yet to make or receive a FaceTime audio call, even when the other user has the new OS and I have the most recent. 7.0.4. I can receive calls, but it will never actually connect. It hangs up as soon as it connects.

My mom's phone, in the same wifi connection with the exact same OS can make calls just fine. I'm really not keen on completely resetting my phone, especially when it is a crapshoot that it is even going to work.

In the older forums I've read, everyone seems to say that 7.0.4 fixed their issue, and I know fixing that bug was one Of the things they got "working," but obviously it is my working on mine.

Anyone still having this problem? And does anyone know how to resolve it?
