How do I delete all emails at once in the ipad inbox
iPad 2
I just did it on the mini by going to settings - mail - selecting the correct account and deleting it.
Took seconds to delete 1500 of a coworkers emails off of a work device.
You can always add an account back.
Have you upgraded to ios 7.0.3? Once you do that you can delete multiple emails. Once you download them hit the edit button. Then select an email. Hit the move button and keep your finger on the move button and deselect the email you initially selected. A new window will open. Hit the trash button and voila they are gone.
I had the same problem, over 4,000 emails in one account. I tried all the suggestions here in this discussion and nothing worked. I do have a brand new iPad Air with latest updates. I did read somewhere to simply delete the account and later add it again. So that is what I did, went to Setting and deleted the account AFTER writting down all the account info such as ; name, email, description all incoming and outgoing info. When I hit "Delete Account" I got a warning that all emails would be lost. Yea!! just what I wanted. So I deleted after the warning, and no more emails or account. I then went back to Settings and added a new account using all the info I had written down. The account came back without all the unwanted emails.
This no longer works or at least not on mine. Need a util to log in and just rip then out. What a stupid move apple! I have 10,000 messages now on my ipad. Way too many to check and delete one at a time
At which point if they are still on the server it downloads them all again
Nope. Not on my ipad mini. It hangs for a few minutes then crashes out
The emails I wanted to delete were from my Verizon account. I first went to the Verizon web site logged in and marked all mail as read on then deleted them all at one time and emptied trash. Then I got on my iPad and deleted the account and got the warning that all emails would be lost. I clicked on ok and all were deleted with the Verizon account. I shut down the iPad, waited a few minutes and started the iPad back up. In settings I added a new mail account, the same Verizon account and NO emails came back. This may not work for mail in the cloud unless you delete them from the server?
Still works for me.
It is NOT instantaneous.
Be PATIENT; give it time to work.
May have to do it several times, but IT WORK eventualy.

I've tried this method on my mini and ipad 2 and iphone5. Iphone shows empty inbox but the messages still there and showing as unread. Both ipads crash so that I can't select the trash to move them. Tried several times.
Sigh.
We need a more stable, reliable method.

Well, I discovered that first I have to mark all the emails as read before doing the process. Worked beautifully on my iphone 5 but both my mini and ipad 2 it freezes when I get to the move to trash step. No success there.
To be continued...

it worked but then they all returned when I checked for new emails?
I'm wonderfully impressed. It works beautifully for me and as it has driven me mad for quite some time, thank you Ajaxwilly. All I have to do now is remember where to store the instructions, in case I should need it again, and by the time I possibly do I will have forgotten.😊 Its age related I think!!😕
Brilliant. It worked a little different for me in I OS 8. I selected the first message after hitting edit, and held on move, deselected the first message and then got the option where to move it to. as soon as I chose trash they all disappeared.
Thanks so much for this tip.
To delete ALL inbox emails just select the first one to edit, press and HOLD the move button, AT THE SAME TIME as holding this, deselect first email and then then after a second or two, release hold and you then tap TRASH. ALL emails will then go into your trash, ready for you to delete All when you wish. Good luck! Hope this helps :-)
