I bought a macbook pro this august and i didn't put a cover on it. i've been carrying it in my backpack this whole time. i've noticed thought that there have been these black spots and scratches. it's probably me not being careful and now when i try to clean them, it doesn't come off.

Clean your back pack. If the spots don't come off with a damp lint free cloth put a cover on it if it bothers you so much.
No that's the problem. It doesn't come off with just damp cloth so I was wondering if anyone else has had this problem. If not, that is my backup plan is to just cover it.
One could tell you to try some rubbing alcohol or acetone but if that discolors it further you'd be real upset. Try in a small corner.
