Jumpy erratic cursor/arrow - Moves & Selects without touching

None of the solutions I found online worked for me, I have tried everything.But what did work for me after a few hours of trying things: Clean the trackpad on the Macbook thoroughly! Click it and hold it down while cleaning the edges too. I think the issue started to happen after i ate fries with mayonaise, the fat of the mayonaise may have caused it. After cleaning the trackpad (and the edges) it all worked again and the cursor behaved normally again.

Same same.... so I rebooted in Safe Mode, shut down and rebooted normally...problem gone, no idea why (I'm thinking it was demons!) but the pointer stopped jumping around and has been calm and nicely behaved ever since...not nervous at all..

So learn from that. I agree it is inconvenient when it happens but if you find the answer, you learn for the future

You must keep your products clean. There are ways to do this. Resetting the SMC usually meets your requirements but the potential problems are many and various. Don't take offence; we all do things unknowingly that cause problems but that is what the forums are for.

I had the same issue with my Macbook Pro. I turned off `built-in trackpad` to correct this.
