i forgot my password for my ipod 4th gen how do i unlock it

If you cannot remember the passcode, you will need to restore your device using the computer with which you last synced it. This allows you to reset your passcode and resync the data from the device (or restore from a backup).
If you restore on a different computer that was never synced with the device, you will be able to unlock the device for use and remove the passcode, but your data will not be present.
You may have to force iPad/iPod into Recovery Mode
I got it for a birthday present and locked my self out and did not conect to itunes i need HELPPPPPPPPP!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Just pressing and holding the Home button won't do it.
Unplug your device from the computer.
While it is turned on, hold down both the Sleep/Wake button AND the Home button.
Keep holding them while the device switches between the power off screen, then black screen, and the apple screen.
Then you will see the Connect to iTunes screen.
Plug in your device. iTunes will tell you you need to Restore your iPod before it can be used.
Press okay. Then press restore.

Place the iOS device in Recovery Mode and then connect to your computer and restore via iTunes. The iPod will be erased.
iOS: Forgot passcode or device disabled
If recovery mode does not work try DFU mode.

If you restore from iCloud backup the apps will be automatically downloaded. If you restore from iTunes backup the apps and music have to be in the iTunes library since synced media like apps and music are not included in the backup of the iOS device that iTunes makes.
You can redownload most iTunes purchases by:
Downloading past purchases from the App Store, iBookstore, and iTunes Store
If problem what happens or does not happen and when in the instructions? When you successfully get the iPod in recovery mode and connect to computer iTunes should say it found an iPod in recovery mode.

My 4th generation ipod is locked up. The screen says Ipod is disabled Connect to Itunes store. Every time I try and log in to reset my information, it says my apple ID and/or password is wrong, even after I changed it for this same reason. I am so frustrated and annoyed, I have tried everything! What must I do to unlock this thing!?!
