Procrastination Apps

Hello there, can somebody help me?

I need help blocking certain websites on Safari to stop procrastinating. There is an extension for Safari that suppossedly performs this task. It is called Waste No Time, and like similar apps for other browsers, it sets a limit on the amount of time you can spend on partcular websites. However, because extensions can be uninstalled in Safari by accessing the preferences menu, which is not web based (external to the broswer, so to speak), you can easily uninstall the software once your time is up, making Wast No Time an essentially useless application!

Does anybody know of any anti-procrastination apps that aren't as easy to get around? Alternately, does anybody know how to block Safari altogether? My other broswer, Chrome, has adequate anti-procrastination software.

Really wish I could just uninstall Safari... But I also wish "planned obselescence" weren't a thing.

Congrats for reading all of this,

Larry

You could try Steve Lambert's SelfControl. It will (if it works as the site claims it does) block network access to whatever sites and services you specify at the OS/Firewall level and you cannot turn it off once the timer is running.

There was an app touted here some years ago, by the developer (sorry, the name escapes) and several requests like yours - all received with the same interest you've seen, or worse.

Parental Controls lets you block any application - allowing is just a click & admin name/pass away, byt further than Safari's extensions pane.

or do that - make a copy or zip it somewhere so it can be replaced to let Software Update detect it when necessary, then trash the app. Again with the admin/pass.
