Quicktime movies take on a blue color

Using a MacBook Pro. When playing a slide show (Keynote 3.0.1) with QT movie, the movie takes on a blue color. If I stop the slide show and double click on the movie, it plays just fine. Anyone have this proble?

MacBok Pro, Mac OS X (10.4.5)

I have the same problem but only with some, not all movies. It does not depend on whether the movie is in the background or foreground and does not depend on whether it is .avi or .mov. It makes no sense to me. The blue only shows in the slideshow mode and does not show blue if the movie is played when the program is open. I have 5 movies in my presentation and only 2 exhibit this behavior. This same presentation played on a PowerPC Mac does not show blue.

Open the video in the QuickTime Player, press
Command-I and report back what is listed for video
and audio.

Here is the info, note that the movies play fine in QTPlayer and mine have no sound

/Users/brado/Desktop/UNTexasn.key/GFP 30d-1.mov
, 512 x 512, Millions
5.02
(Available while playing.)
105.0 MB
31.61 mbits/sec
512 x 512 pixels
439 x 439 pixels

But this might be more informative from the Movie Properties in QTPro. This movie was taken from a microscopy program and I thought converted to a .mov but shows up as .avi (the original format)

Video Track Format WRAW

I exported the movie as a QT movie (.mov) in H.264 and it no longer shows blue. I know that the other movie in my Keynote file that is blue is also .avi. This did not occur on the Powerbook. I have the latest QT7.1.1 installed as well.

I was going to presume it was .avi, but you said it happens with .avi's AND .mov's? .AVI is a non-standard format that anyone using it can put anything into. It SHOULD still play the same in all versions of Keynote, but something looks to have slipped through the cracks.

The best option now (until it gets fixed) is getting a program like iSquint and using it to batch convert your .avi's to .mp4. Also, be sure to send feedback to Apple so they can be aware of the problem.

I had originally thought that I had converted files to .mov but when I examined the files they were .avi. I am now using QT Pro to export from .avi to .mov and that seems to solve the problem. All of my .mov files appear to play without a hitch.

No, open the movie in QuickTime Player. You can double-click and usually this will work if everything's set properly. After the movie has opened and you have "QuickTime Player" in your menu bar, click on "Window" and choose "Show Movie Info" (you can also perform this my pressing command-I, but ONLY from within the QuickTime Player. Doing command-I from other apps like the finder will yield different results and won't give you the information you need.
