i recall that the youtube player was removed from ios along with google maps
If i recall correctly then what you call the default youtube player is one you installed yourself
in which case I see no reason why you should not be able to delete it
in which case I would think maybe it would defaultly use another youtube player
NO-- With the google app "YouTube" deleted, it only defaults then to a web browser (Safari for iOS). It does NOT default to Jasmine or McTube or MyTube or any other YouTube viewer.
Rather restrictive… it's not even an Apple app!
I can see why people jailbreak their devices – that's not my cuppa tea but I can understand why many do it.
I'll keep working on a work-around and fingers-crossed for iOS 7-------------- Just love my iPad-- 1100 apps downloaded, over 500 on my iPad and use many each day-- wonderful concept of "an app to solve a problem"! And I rarely use a keyboard to type anything longer than my passwords! Dictation is great and works for me not only in my native English, but French and German as well (and I'm no native speaker in either of those languages!) That along with TableTop translator and I'm set!
Appreciate any further feedback here.

In comparison to a compter, the ipad itself is fairly restrictive. I'm not sure it will ever evolve to the point of making everyone happy.
It appears that you have researched this more than you originally led on.
All my "research" on this issue has been focused in the past 12 hours--- I had been thinking about this issue for months, but only really took some action (first by posting, then by trying things) today.
Really appreciate all the replies and hope to find a workaround. I can't import my 2011 TurboTax info from my Mac to my iPad-- cannot record video SKYPE during the calls (but with Dictamus can record voice)--- just a lot to learn and lots of fun!

Since you're turbotax info should be a pdf, should be able to import. What happens when you try to sync it? Have you tried emailing the file to yourself? What about downloading it directly from the site?
There might be some legal issues in regards to recording Skype calls, but not sure. There are with regular phone calls.
The TurboTax file that needs to be downloaded is the 2011 TurboTax file (not a PDF) and TurboTax gives instructions for importing (via iTunes) - it just doesn't work…
Back to Jasmine: I've written to the author, no reply yet - I'll post if he replies.
Thanks everyone!

I don't use either, but if its possible then that setting would be in the app settings
settings/youtube (jasmine or whatever)
Can't find settings/youtube Please give more specific details.
It does not appear that you have that option with youtube
That seems to be the most obvious answere😝
