Why does my printer overlap the print when printing an iTunes playlist?

Hi,

My printer has all of a sudden decided to print my iTunes playlists by overlapping the track print. It still prints the cut out marks, CD title and "printed with itunes" in the right place but the track titles and artists are printed on top of each other.

My printer works fine when printing any other documents. Just seems to be an iTunes problem.

Any ideas or suggestions would be appreciated.

Thanks in advance,

Darren

Hi,

I've been having the same problem but here is a TEMPORARY FIX:

When you go to the print selection screen, click on Album Listing, then Songs by Album. At least you can get a listing of the tracks without overlapping, but since this will be sorted by album you will need to look at the printed track number to see the order of what's playing. You may also have to do some cutting and pasting. I've wasted so much ink and paper trying to figure this out. I think Apple should provide us with a few free tracks as compensation.

Hi Darren. I've just joined this Apple Support (Ha Ha!!) system and I think my first posting is about the printing problem you're busy discussing? Everything was ok printing art work before I downloaded iTunes 11. Now all the track listings on the left-hand side are squashed together at the top and unreadable. The right-hand side is fine. All the cd's prior to downloading 11 have been screwed up as well. Nobody can offer any help other than re-install the printer, which I'm loath to do because it's working great as usual in all other areas.

I have been encountering the same problem. Apple technicians give you a typical runaround and cannot solve the problem. I just go to song listing to print the tracks without the overlap. It is frustrating since i prefer the CD Jewel format. All these online sites be it iTunes, MySpace, FB, etc....all try and upgrade or change the original platform and it always comes out inferior to the original. Always bugs and more problems. Hey iTunes.....if it ain't broken DO NOT try and fix it!

Hi Peter,

I believe we are having the same problem. Is this just happening to a select number of people or is this the case for everyone using iTunes wanting to print their playlists?

I'm not 100% sure but I think you might be right about it becoming an issue after downloading iTunes 11.

Like you, my printer is working perfectly when printing any other documents. I've tried today using my parents printer but I still have the same issue.

This is a massive pain in the harris for me as I am a DJ and would quite like to know what is on my CDs!

The only thing I am glad about is that I only have an Apple iPod and don't use any other Apple devices and am pretty sure I will keep it that way.

Grrrr.... 😀

Darren

Edit: I nearly forgot... recently iTunes has deleted all my playlists and tracks that I had in iTunes. I have a 160GB iPod which as you can imagine holds a few tracks. I am fuming to say the least!!!

Hi plectrist,

I've tried selecting the "song listing" when printing which prints fine but I need the playlists to fit into my CD wallet and just can't cut it down to size.

It wouldn't be quite as bad if you could adjust or customise what you wanted to see on the print out but it doesn't look like you can. There is a massive gap in between track title and artist which could do with being shorter. I'm sure years ago you could do something similar to this?

I'm tempted to change the thread title to "Hey iTunes.....if it ain't broken DO NOT try and fix it!" haha, like it!

Hello Darren from the UK? You're absolutely right, another Apple Screw Up and they just give you the run-around because they haven't got a clue either ℹ what the problem is or (ii) how to solve it. They really are a bunch of mindless................ You can tell I'm sick of the whole thing and I've worked out other ways of doing what I want.I have no intention of wasting time, ink or paper in trying to solve it. There appears to be a way of reverting back to iTunes version 10 but even that involves, for me, some pretty tortuous navigations. If you can't beat them, work around them.
