computer thinks my ipod touch is a camera.

I cannot get my computer-- neither my Mac nor the Windows PC to recognize my iPod Touch 8g - it thinks it is a camera. I can download onto it, but I cannot manage the items on the iPod any longer. Suggestions?

Does your Windows PC have a pop-up appear when you plug in your iPod that asks you if you want to put pictures from the iPod (or as you say a camera) to the computer? If so, that could be one of the reasons why your PC recognizes it as a camera. I believe the only way you can manage files on your iPod is in iTunes, or another program that manages the basic files of the iPod. Or are you having a problem that is different?

Thanks, but I tried all those things and the iPod is still being recognized as a camera. I am able to add items to my iPod, but the content will not show up so I can remove other items. This is a NEW issue--I've been able to use this iPod on this computer in the past. It does the same thing when I connect it to the Mac, so I am thinking it must be iPod's problem.

Could it be I need to update the iOS on the iPod? I can't figure out how to do that either. Very frustrating.
