Safari problem? Virus, trojan, spyware, adware?

Anytime I try and use safari it eventually closes and opens up the AppStore to the app, candy crush saga. I have tried restoring my phone two times second time starting as a new phone and the problem still persists. Before the AppStore automatically open the URL box in safari changes two or three times in a split second before changing to an aptrack.king URL and the opens up candy crush in the App Store.

This is extremely bad advice on multiple fronts! Deleting all apps will also delete those apps' data, which is probably not something most people want to do. Besides which, it will have no effect on the problem described here.

Turning off your iOS device for a day or so is no more useful as a troubleshooting technique than sacrificing a chicken to it. It will have absolutely no effect on the problem described here.

And actually downloading the thing that you're directed to the App Store for is nonsensical... the site can't know whether you have that app installed or not, so this will have no effect on the behavior, while downloading an app from what is probably an unethical developer onto your device.

As Thomas says above, deleting apps is bad advice. After further investigation it would appear that this is not the problem of the device you are using it is a server-side problem on certain websites that have been attacked.

A simple test is to try going to a trusted website, let's use one that you might be familiar with such as http://www.apple.com/

In response to your other comment Thomas, GearzandBeers is a community forum, the server host is aware of the problem and looking into it, if you investigate into this problem you will see it is becoming a widespread problem amongst third-party hosted websites, the only thing you can do is contact the administrators and hope they are able to sort out the problem.

Hi

I had the same issue in my moms ipad and at last resolved the issue. If she wasn't complaining all the time, I couldn't have done that:)))

We realized that the same happened to my bro's android which meant that it can be because of the modem. So,

. I reset modem

. ı reset network settings

. I forget the network

and all is well for now.

Hope that works for you also,

Kaan

I believe this can be caused by a hacked router. After seeing messages about DNS redirects, and reading https://teksecurityblog.com/blog/2014/06/08/safari-browser-redirects-iphone-ipad /, I decided to check my router's DNS settings. I had changed them about 5 months ago to OpenDNS IP addresses, because my ISP was having major DNS problems:

OpenDNS

Preferred: 208.67.222.222
Alternate: 208.67.220.220

However, when I looked today, they were switched to something totally different (187... And 69...). I switched them back, and I'm no longer having the problem with JavaScript redirects to the AppStore.

The weird thing is, I have two iPads, and only one was having this problem; the other was fine. The problematic iPad is, however equipped for Cellular Data, so I'm wondering if that's part of the equation here.

I had the same issue, turns out mine was related to a router hack as another user reported. A good way to check is to turn off wi-fi on your phone and go strictly on cellular data. While wi-fi is off, if you are not experiencing the same issues on your device,it is your router. I went to http://www.dd-wrt.com/site/index and downloaded and installed the firmware update for my router and set it up again, and it fixed al lthe issues on all devices like magic!

Hi guys,

I have problems with the adware for more than a week. And I found something that may help. Please check this link: http://www.thesafemac.com/how-to-manage-a-hacked-wireless-router/

The problem may be caused by your internet service provider. The temporary solution is change DNS. Then you need to call your provider to fix the problem.

Hope this help.

Sorry to hear that. Apparently yours is not related to the router if you are getting the same pop ups on different routers / wi-fi's. Have you tried a full reset on your phone?

settings, general, reset, reset all settings

Best I can figure out, it is not an iOS issue, but it is tied to something else like within chrome or any other browser you may be using. You may also try deleting chrome and reinstalling it if that is your browser (or any other you may be using other than safari).

Good luck, it drove me crazy until I got it corrected.

Thank you for posting this. I am giving it a shot. Much problems with getting redirected to p*o*r*n sites and other junk, even using IOS 8.4. Question: Does it help at all to use other browsers like Firefox or whatever?

Actually, the advice in the post you're responding to isn't very good. It's very unnecessarily extreme, and it probably won't fix your problem, since what you describe sounds like the work of a hacked network. See:
