Safari problem? Virus, trojan, spyware, adware?

Anytime I try and use safari it eventually closes and opens up the AppStore to the app, candy crush saga. I have tried restoring my phone two times second time starting as a new phone and the problem still persists. Before the AppStore automatically open the URL box in safari changes two or three times in a split second before changing to an aptrack.king URL and the opens up candy crush in the App Store.

No - do not remove apps from your iphone - that is not good enough. You must remove all of its lingering content. The only way to do this is thru itunes, app, remove:

Connect your iphone to your computer

Open itunes

Your iphone will appear on left side (view ) of itunes

Highlight iphone with mouse - and tabs on right side of itune will show the information content stroed within your iphone. click on the App tab

From the app tab scroll down until you see each game and social network app

click on one of them, and on right click on remove - and it will change to remove when you rsync

do this for each app to be removed -i .e. each game/ social network app

then - click on apply/sync and all of these game/social network apps and their lingering content will be completely wiped off your iphone.

Just presseing the hold button on your ipnone and then clicking the x on each app while they are squiggling to remove each one , does not accomplish the same thing. It will leave its lingering data behind and worse , the next time you sync your iphone, it will restore the app itself.

That is not what I was suggesting the poster do. What you are describing is closing an app completely out of memory. What I said was to tap on the icon, not tap the Home (not "hold" ) button, then tap on the black X. (If you double tap the Home button then tap and hold an icon, you get a red minus sign). Yes, this will remove the app and its associated files from the iPhone.

While this doesn't 'solve' the problem, I've just blocked the website 'adtrack.king.com' in Safari and that stops the App Store from opening. In Settings/General/Restrictions/Websites select Limited Adult Content, then under Never Allow, select Add a Website and add adtrack.king.com, problem 'solved'!

Now if I could find a way to keep childrens apps from launching Safari in the first place I'd be happy!

I have fixed this issue on my iPhone.

I changed the DNS settings on my wireless connection to use DNS servers that block the offending servers. I end up with ad blocking and no more app store opening bs.

To do it, use this article to change your DNS: http://www.macinstruct.com/node/558

and enter these DNS addresses:

87.118.111.215

213.187.11.62

as found on this website: http://www.fooldns.com/fooldns-community/english-version/

This should help android users: https://support.myrepublic.com.sg/entries/23817343-How-do-I-check-or-change-the- DNS-settings-on-an-Android-phone-

I do not think it'll work on 3G or LTE on iPhones because you cannot set the DNS for those networks. But it works for wireless.

If you ever want to switch back to how it was, just delete the addresses that you entered and your device will use the network defaults as they originally did.

Please test and let me know if it works for you too.

As some have already mentioned, the issue can be that somehow your dns can be hacked. Your home router can be hacked, and the dns changed, and the dns can be changed on your ipad/iphone as well. You need to fix the issue BOTH on your router and your device. You don't need to uninstall apps, reset your device, etc. just make sure your dns settings are good. And make sure they are good on all your devices and your router or the problem will come back.

I have just experienced the problem, how frustrating!

On trying to fix it I noticed that it only affects certain websites, for example, when I try to visit gearzandbeers.com I get redirected to the apple store, but if I try to visit twitch.tv there is no problem.

This is a problem that is known to apple but there is no fix, resetting your iPhone will not solve it apparrently, some say manually removing all social media apps and games will work, that's not something I really fancy trying 😀

here is an article about the problem:
