How to unmount a usb web cam

I have a Logitech camera connected to one of the usb ports of my Mac mini. I want to unmount it (without disconnecting) so that my virtualization program can take hold of it to be used by another OS. Is there a way to do this? Thanks.

Mac mini, OS X Mountain Lion (10.8.2)

Thank you for answering. Sorry, there's no image of the web cam on the desktop. I know that it is recognized and activated when I do [This Mac -> More Info -> System Report] where it shows on the USB devices my Logitech web cam connected on one of the USB Hi speed busses. But, I don't know how to either unmount or unattach it from the Mac OS so that my virtualization program may take hold of it.

In the preferences for Finder everything is checked. I tried disconnecting the camera, started my virtualization app, booted the guest OS and then plugged the camera again, but still, the host OS mounted the camera. I was expecting that Mac OS-X would have something similar to the Windows Device Manager, where you can install, uninstall, enable or disable a device, but apparently there's no such thing.
