How do I get trash can to delete e mail messages show on messages?
iPad
What I want to do is delete messages from in box. - was able to do this on iPad
Can do this on I phone as trash can shows on messages in in box
I can delete messages with edit button from other boxes - spam, all mail, trash, etc
I'm so sorry, I did misread your post.
First of all, have you deleted a message yet? You have to delete a message in order for the trash can to appear.
Are you able to delete messages....if not ...
If that doesn't work go to Settings>Mail, contacts, calendars>Your email account>tap the blue arrow next to your email address under Account>Advanced>Mailbox Behaviors>Deleted Mailbox>On My iPad>Trash.
This is right - I just got this mini iPad this morning at apple store in Austin (25 miles from me)
I live in a different town
Trash can was on upper right of my iPad 2 and my new mini I got feb 1
have one on in box on my iPhone
I can not delete messages from in box of this mini iPad
Can use edit to delete messages from other folders
Try this and see of it works, but I really have my doubts. It will not hurt anything so is worth a try.
Quit the Mail app completely and reboot the iPad. Go to the home screen first by tapping the home button. Double tap the home button and the recents tray will appear with all of your recent apps displayed at the bottom. Tap and hold down on any app icon until it begins to wiggle. Tap the minus ➖ sign in the upper left corner of the app that you want to close. Tap the home button or anywhere above the task bar.
Reboot the iPad by holding down on the sleep and home buttons at the same time for about 10-15 seconds until the Apple Logo appears - ignore the red slider if it appears on the screen - let go of the buttons. Let the iPad start up.
Launch mail again and see of the trash can icon appears.
You have a Gmail account and it is set to move mail to the Archive Mailbox rather than the Deleted Mailbox.
Settings > Mail, Contacts, Calendars > under Accounts tap on Gmail, tap on the Account showing the name of your account, scroll down and tap on Advanced. Under MOVE DISCARDED MESSAGES INTO: tap on Deleted Mailbox and a checkmark will appear next to it.
Tap on < Account at the top left of the page, on the next page tap on Done on the top right.
Tap the Edit button in the upper left corner of the app and then a red line inside of a circle will appear next to all of the messages. Tap the red line and the red Delete button will appear.
Thank you for response - I know how to do this
